Geotrax Geocell

High-performance HDPE cellular confinement system for ground stabilisation, load distribution, erosion control, and tree root protection. Ideal for no-dig access routes, tracks, slopes, and ground reinforcement applications where long-term stability and reduced excavation are required.

Description

The GeoTrax GeoCell System is a robust cellular confinement solution engineered to improve ground stability, increase load-bearing performance, and minimise subgrade deformation. Manufactured from durable 1.6mm perforated and textured HDPE, the system expands on-site to form a three-dimensional honeycomb structure that confines infill materials and distributes loads laterally across a wider surface area.

Available in depths of 75mm, 100mm, 150mm, and 200mm, GeoTrax GeoCell is suitable for a wide range of civil engineering, landscaping, infrastructure, and environmental projects. The system provides an effective solution for constructing no-dig pathways and access tracks, stabilising weak ground, protecting sensitive tree root zones, controlling erosion on slopes, and reinforcing retaining structures.

Delivered flat-packed for efficient transport and handling, each panel expands quickly on-site and includes 29 plastic connectors for secure assembly. Installation is completed using steel pins and plastic caps (sold separately), while optional CellGrip fixings provide superior anchorage on embankments and sloping terrain, delivering up to nine times greater pull-out resistance compared to conventional rebar pins.

By confining granular fill materials such as gravel, sand, soil, or aggregate, GeoTrax GeoCell reduces pressure on underlying soils, improves surface durability, and creates stable, permeable surfaces suitable for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Benefits

  • Provides effective load distribution across weak or unstable ground.
  • Reduces subgrade stress and minimises rutting and settlement.
  • Supports sustainable no-dig construction methods within sensitive root protection areas.
  • Suitable for both temporary and permanent access roads, tracks, and hardstanding areas.
  • Controls surface erosion on slopes, embankments, and water management schemes.
  • Manufactured from durable perforated and textured HDPE for long-term performance.
  • Flat-pack design reduces transport costs and simplifies site handling.
Quick and straightforward installation with integrated panel connectors.
  • Compatible with a wide range of granular and vegetated infill materials.
  • Optional CellGrip fixing system enhances anchorage performance on steep gradients.

Applications

GeoTrax GeoCell is suitable for:

  • Tree root protection zones (BS 5837 compliant no-dig construction)
  • Access roads and haul roads
  • Temporary construction tracks
  • Permanent vehicle access routes
  • Car parks and overflow parking areas
  • Pedestrian pathways and shared-use routes
  • Ground reinforcement over weak subgrades
  • Slope stabilisation and erosion control
  • Retaining structures and reinforced earth applications
  • Riverbanks, swales, and drainage channels
  • Landscaping and public realm schemes
  • Infrastructure and utility projects

Installation Components

  • Supplied with 29 plastic connectors per panel.
  • Steel pins and plastic caps required for installation (sold separately).
  • Optional CellGrip fixing system available for enhanced stability on slopes and embankments.

Installation Method

The GeoTrax GeoCell system is supplied flat-packed and expanded on-site to form a cellular confinement matrix. Panels are connected using the supplied plastic connectors and secured with steel pins and plastic caps before infilling with suitable aggregate, soil, or other specified materials. For sloped applications, CellGrip fixings are recommended to maximise anchorage performance and long-term stability.
