About The Project
Where there is a becoming of more and more grey in the city, space must be made for green, according to the Municipality of Amsterdam. Tackling climate problems is an important theme in the city also.
This thought led to combining green and grey at Booking.com’s new building on Oosterdoks Island (an island in the centre of Amsterdam). A total of 18 new trees were planted in front of the large, brand-new headquarters.
What was done
The trees stand on an underground parking garage for cars, making it a kind of roof garden construction. The Tree Parker system that has been applied ensures that the trees have enough space to grow into mature, functional trees. Not only are the trees a valuable addition to biodiversity and climate adaptation in the city, they are also real eye-catchers for the giant building!
